No matter how hard we try to keep an even balance between everything that demands our time, unfortunately there is only 24 hours in a day to work with. Unless you are super mom, it takes a few tips and tricks to help make it through the day without going crazy. Here are a few of mine:

Make A To-Do List. While it might be impossible to fill every little task that you need to accomplish, it is easier to keep track of the necessities if you have them written down somewhere.

When you choose how to handle your to-do list, keep your own habits in mind. If you spend a lot of time in one area, place your to-do list near it. If your needs require your list to be portable then you should get something that can easily be carried in your handbag. For those who enjoy surfing the web from their phone, the internet is filled with free options that you could also take advantage of.

Set Office Hours. These will be the hours that you are to go undisturbed (as much as possible). Make sure you set these to work best with your own personal situation. If you have a significant other at home, that could mean getting a few hours of work in while they help care for the children. If your children are in school, working during those hours can also offer you the perfect opportunity to get some important tasks completed. Also, by setting specific office hours for yourself then your customers will know when it is best to contact you. Just make sure you stick to your schedule as much as possible. Not all types of business offer the opportunity for flexibility.

Set Time Limits. Plan out how much time you intend to spend on each task and do what you can to avoid going over that allotted amount of time. You might also find that you’ve been spending much longer than previously believed on some of the simplest tasks, like reading email. If you set and stick to your limits, you will find that your time is being used much more efficiently.

Involve Your Kids In The Learning Process Of Running A Business. Sometimes you might not have a way to avoid working while your kids are around. The best part of being a mompreneur is being able to involve your children in the learning process, and there is a lot to learn! If you need to get a little extra work done and your kids don’t want to leave you alone while you do it, set them up with a small job they can handle for you. In return they learn a little about handling a business and, to make it a little more interesting, you can find unique ways to compensate them for their time.

Always Find Time For Yourself. As an entrepreneurial mom, it’s not always easy to find time for “you”. However, it is important that you do. If you spend too much time dedicated to your business, you’ll find yourself reaching burnout quickly. That will do no good to you, your family, or your business. You will come back to your responsibilities refreshed if you give yourself the time you need to relax.
